to publish the following from Dr. James W. Ward, Hon. Vice President I.
H. A., one of America’s oldest and most esteemed homœopathic
prescribers.

My Dear Dr. Tyler,

I am glad the occasion
has arisen that I may express to your the unstinted satisfaction that
your Journal Homœopathy has given me.

In your editorial of
November you ask certain questions, as follows -whether it is
interesting. I most emphatically say that it is the most interesting
journal that comes to my desk. The. -interesting facts pertaining to Homœopathy
are placed concisely and in a most practical way so as to make the
gleaning abundantly useful.

Again, whether it is
helpful. I can illustrate this best by staling that many months ago you
gave a discussion of Drosera in tuberculous disease of the bones. It so
happened at a most stubborn case of disease of the rib co-existed with a
chronic cough which had defied any remedy that I had used for its
correction. From various angles through a period of several years, the
patient a man of forty had been assisted and improved in general
nutrition so that his weight had increased about forty pounds. Still the
sinus existed leading to the sternal end of the sixth rib on the left
side. Two operations had been performed to curette the diseased area,
without avail. Calcarea, Calcarea fluorata,
Fluoric acid, Silica and Phosphorus
had all bean given without result. It remained for Drosera 200 to
complete the cure. This result alone would justify a subscription to
your journal for ten years.

I fully believe that it
is a valuable teaching medium for practitioners of Homœopathy ;
and in these times when our journals have fallen short in number and homœopathic
value, I certainly prize your Journal beyond anything I may be able to
express.

“How to the line
and let the chips fall where they may” I am pleased with your
Journal and congratulate you upon the aim you have in view and the
accomplishment realized.

ASTHMA.

Miss X—., 50, 19th
November, 1928. Asthma began last winter.

Two years ago a doctor
advised injections for frequent colds. Had three injections ten days
apart. After the second one, was dreadfully ill with high temperature.
“Never asthma before this.” (The patient was filling an
important post, and the asthma was interfering with her work. She was
sent on by a nurse in one of the big hospitals, who had been cured of
the same complaint.)

She had a number of
very definite symptoms, and this is how the remedy was arrived at.

Asthma better sitting
upright : Kali-c., Lach., Laur., Lyc., Seneg., Ter.
Better head forward on knees :
Kali-c., Coc. c.
Worse lying : Kali-c., Lach., Lyc.,
Seneg.
Sweat axillæ : Kali-c., Laur.
Feet : Kali-c. Lyc.
Between toes : Kali-c., Lyc., Sil.
Pain heel : Kali-c., Lyc.
Oppression chest : Kali-c., Lyc, Sil,
Seneg.
Dreams of the dead : Kali-c., Lyc.,
Sil.
Worse cold : Kali-c., Lyc., Sil.
Draught : Kali-c., Lach.
East wind : Kali-c.
Wet feet : Dulc., Sil.
Worse wet applications : Lyc.
Worse bath : Lyc.

Kali carb. 6, 12, 30,

one each morning for three days.

19th December :
“Wonderfully better ; even black fog had no effect on
her”. Two slight attacks only. Was having them very frequently and
much more severely. She had had two years’ treatment but never derived
benefit like this. Oppression in chest gone. Can lie on either side now,
not quite fiat. Pain heel gone (she had had to lie up with it). Sweats
much less.

Next heard of 3rd
December 1932 (four years later) Sends another asthma patient and the
message, that she “had never had an attack since coming here.”

(One is always very
happy and confident when one remedy comes through the whole case, as
here).

Here is a striking,
long forgotten case, scribbled in the margin, as an illustration to
Causticum.

Boy, about 17 lifelong
nightly enuresis. Albuminuria. Urination every 15, 30 minutes all day.
Spots on face. Caust 30 three times a day, not only gave no relief, but
provoked an aggravation of the condition. Caus. 3x was then
administered, with the result, “Albumin gone. Only one wetting the
bed in many weeks. No thirst. Spots gone. Passes urine very
infrequently, by day now”.

We give the case for
what it is worth. Perhaps nothing. It is not an example as to how to
take a case or how to prescribe. Perhaps the higher potency far too
frequently given, and providing a proving, was antidoted by the lower
potency, a cure resulting ? But it does show what one may expect
from the homœopathic remedy, even in life long conditions. And of
course Causticum is one of our greatest remedies for bed wetting, and
for involuntary escape of urine-part and parcel of its power to produce,
and cure, local weaknesses and paralytic conditions, of eyelids, tongue,
extremities, vocal chords, bladder, rectum, besides facial paralysis.

Here are some of its
“caused and cured” symptoms : Frequent urging to urinate
day and night. Involuntary passage of urine, when coughing, sneezing or
blowing nose ; at night when asleep.

Enuresis nocturne.

Albuminuria.

But acne, pimples, even
pustules of face.
