Natrum sulphuricum.

Mind and Disposition.

Sadness ; inclined to weep.
Lively music disposes one to weep.

Head.

Vertigo after a meal ; the heat extends from the abdomen to the
head ; relieved after the forehead becomes moist.
Heaviness in the head, with bleeding of the nose.
[5] Periodical attacks in the right
side of the forehead.
Pain, as if the forehead would burst, after a meal.
Jerks in the head, tossing it to the right side (forenoon).
Feeling of looseness of the brain, as if it were falling to the left
temple (in the forenoon on stooping).
Sensitiveness of the scalp ; the hair is painful on combing it.

Eyes.

[10] Burning in the eyes, with
discharge of burning water, with dimness of sight.
Burning and dryness of the eyes.
Dimness of sight, from weakness of the eyes.

Ears.

Pressing in the ears as if the tympanum were pressed out.
Itching of the wings of the nose, inducing rubbing.
[15] Bleeding of the nose during the
menses (in the afternoon).

Face.

Pale complexion.
Itching of the face.
Vesicles on the lower lip.
Dryness of the upper lip, the skin peels off.
[20] Pimples on the chin, they burn
when touching them.

Mouth and Throat.

The gums bum like fire.
Feeling of numbness and roughness in the mouth.
Dryness, with redness of the gums and thirst.
Burning of the tongue ; it feels as if covered with blisters.
[25] The tongue is covered with
mucus ; slimy taste in the mouth.
Burning blisters on the tip of the tongue.
Burning of the palate as if sore and raw (during the menses).
Blisters on the palate, with great sensitiveness ; relieved by
cold.
Frequent constriction of the throat when walking.

[30] Inflammation of the tonsils and
uvula, with painful deglutition, and urging to swallow saliva.
Dryness of the throat, extending to the œsophagus.
Accumulation of mucus in the throat, particularly at night ; with
hawking up of salt mucus in the morning.

Stomach and Abdomen.

Great thirst for cold things ; worse after exercise and in the
forenoon.
After eating, perspiration in the face.
[35] Gulping up of sour water.
Hiccough in the evening ; after eating bread and butter.
Vomiting of sour mucus, or of saltish sour water (preceded by
giddiness).
Qualmishness before eating.
Boring in the stomach, as if it would be perforated, or burning and
pinching, in the morning after rising ; better after breakfast.

[40] Beating in the stomach, with
nausea.
Stitches in the region of the liver, while walking in the open air.
Great sensitiveness of the region of the liver while walking.
Stitches in the left hypochondrium while walking in the open air.
Colic, griping in the abdomen ; worse before breakfast ;
relieved in the afternoon by the emission of flatulence.

[45] Painful digging in the abdomen
during the menses, in the evening, followed by thirst.
Contractive pain in the abdomen, extending to the chest, with tightness
of breath, and subsequent diarrhœa.
Pain, as if bruised, in the abdomen and small of the back.
Pinching in the abdomen, with the sensation as if the bowels were
distended.
Pinching in the whole abdomen, with rumbling, shifting and subsequent
diarrhœa.

[50] Flatulent colic ;
accumulation and difficult emission of flatulence.
Incarceration of flatulence.
Emission of fetid flatulence (in the morning, after meals, and with the
loose stools).
Stitch from the (left) groin to the axilla.

Stool and Anus.

Stool hard, with pressure ; streaked with blood.
[55] Looseness of the bowels.
Half-liquid stools, with tenesmus.
Diarrhœa, preceded by pain in the groins and hypogastrium.
Yellow liquid stools after rising from bed in the morning.
During stool profuse emission of flatulence.

[60] Constant uneasiness in the bowels
and urging to stool. (Chronic diarrhœa ; tuberculosis
abdominalis).
After stool, burning at the anus.
Itching of the anus.

Urinary Organs.

Copious micturition, with brick-dust sediment.
Burning during or after micturition, or with pain in the small of the
back on retaining the urine.
[65] Gonorrhœa.

Sexual Organs.


Men. Itching of the glans or penis,
obliging one to rub.
Itching of the scrotum, with burning after scratching.
Itching of the perineum and mons veneris.
Excited sexual desire (evening) ; erections (morning).
[70] Women.
Retarded, scanty menses, with colic.
Profuse menstruation, particularly when walking in the afternoon.
Menstrual blood acrid, corrosive and flowing profusely the first
days ; the last days (flowing longer than usual) discharge of lumps
of coagulated blood.
Leucorrhœa.

Respiratory Organs.

Dry cough (in the morning, after rising from bed).
At night, with soreness of the chest and roughness of the throat ;
has to sit up and hold the chest with both hands.
[75] Loose cough, with
expectoration ; shortness of breathing ; stitches in the left
side of the chest.
Stitches in the left side of the chest, when sitting, when yawning,
during an inspiration.

Back and Neck.

Pain in the small of the back, all night ; has to lie on the right
side ; the back feels bruised when turning on it.
Pain as if stabbed between the shoulders.
Stitches in the nape of the neck (at night).

Extremities.

[80] Upper.
Twitchings of the hands (and feet), during sleep (more so after
midnight).
Trembling of the hands on waking and also when writing.
Loss of strength of the (left) hand, is unable to hold any thing heavy.
Tingling, ulcerative pain under the nail.
Panaritium.
[85] Tingling in the tips of the
fingers.
Lower. Pain in the hips, in the morning
on rising, and all day, particularly on making certain motions (on
stooping), more violent when rising from a seat or on moving about in
bed.
Stabbing pain in the left hip (after a fall).
The pain in the hip is better in certain positions, but compels one to
move again after a short time, causing intense suffering.
Legs and thighs feel weary and exhausted.
[90] In the heels, lancinating pain,
tearing and ulcerating pain.
Itching on or between the toes, in the evening on undressing.

Sleep.

Drowsiness in the forenoon, especially when reading or writing.
Starting as if in a fright, soon after falling asleep.
Anxious, frightful dreams disturb the sleep.

Fever.

[95] Internal coldness, with yawning
and stretching.
Coldness and shuddering with thirst.
Waking at night with chilliness, shaking and chattering of teeth, with
anguish and thirst.
Chilliness, with warmth of the forehead and hands.
Dry heat in the afternoon.
[100] Perspiration in the morning.

Conditions.

When lying long in one position, the restless desire to move compels a
change which is very painful, and it is very difficult to find a new
position which gives relief.
Aggravation of many symptoms in the
morning.

Amelioration after breakfast and in the
open air.
