Longitudinal study
of a fatal woman
Dr. Léon
Scheepers

Monique
(born
1957).
Occupation: saleswoman of cars (in her parents’ shop where
she also works with her brother)

First consultation on 06/10/92

Motives for the consultation:

  • Since may 1992 she takes Prozac and Lexotan prescribed by her
general physician as a result of a depression
  • Concentration and sleeping problems since her car accident last
September (1992). She sounds very confused. Partly this confusion was
already there before the accident as a result of the divorce. She is
    extremely sad and disorientated.
  • Tormenting fatigue.
  • She transpirates excessively and her arm-pits smell bad since the
accident. This embarrasses her terribly. She now washes herself twice
a day. This doesn’t stop her from feeling bad. (She always feels
    dirty)
  • Spontaneous anamnesis

She is extremely touchy and gets angry very fast. It is now ten
months since she has left her husband. He wants her to come back and
live with him in a new house. She has no doubts about her decision but
the pressure coming from her husband and the whole situation makes her
    depressed.

She already wanted to leave him in 1989 but he didn’t had any job
back then. When he has drunk, all women are the same to him. He makes
love to the wives of his own friends. He even organised orgies. She
already discovers that after two years of marriage and at that moment
she lets him take his choice. He chooses her…

Their sexual relation diminished bit by bit and in the end she couldn’t
stand him touching her anymore. She’s not angry with him. She rather
thinks he is to be pitied.

Her husband was 11 years older and he was the first man who did
everything for her. When there was a party, he always drank too much but
apart from that he was very charming and helped doing the household.
They never argued. Even till now he calls her “sweetheart”.

For her daughter he did everything. She could permit herself
anything. Everything was good for him.

She worked as a hostess and earned more money than he did. He forced
    her to quit her job.

On 14/09/92 she had a car accident and she drove while being drunk.
Her concentration was very bad after the accident. She had two splinters
of glass into her face and haemorrhages everywhere. Whiplash.

Today she felt herself protected by her friend Philippe during the
whole day. Tomorrow she would find herself alone again and she suffers a
lot from this loneliness now. She fears her friend will not have enough
time for her because he has a very exigent job.

Before the accident her environment had advised her to go to a doctor
but she didn’t want to. She’s afraid of a dentist and a
gynaecologist. She’s afraid of doctors in general. Before the accident
she didn’t understand that she was totally knocked up. In her eyes it
    was not serious.

Since the accident she has dreams of her daughter sinking away in the
mud and she doesn’t succeed in saving her and her daughter chokes to
    death.

    Or she sees herself.

Or she looks at herself dying.

Before the accident she dreamt that she would have to be admitted
    into a hospital.

She is very stubborn. She is a perfectionist but also an optimist.

She is very hygienic as she always has been. She washes herself
continuously. She can’t even stand to be dirty. Above all she doesn’t
want people to say she looks dirty.

In her youth she loved acting like a clown. Her husband didn’t like
    that.

She is very angry about her own mistakes.

    Systematic anamnesis

    Mediocre appetite.

She adores spicy dishes and doesn’t like sweets. She has a good and
long sleep but a difficult one because she has had nightmares since the
    accident.

    She gnashes her teeth.

She doesn’t bear cold. On the contrary, she loves warmth.

    Personal history

    Her youth has passed smoothly.

    1982 : marriage

Dec. 1991 : Left home with her daughter Véronique (9 years old)

    Dec. 1992 : Divorces

    Medical history

1977 : bilateral breast prosthesis because she has a flat breast

Oct. 1982 : birth of her only daughter. The birth was very difficult.
The umbilical cord was twined . The sucker didn’t work and they gave
her an injection into her back. She was paralysed in the inferior limbs
for 10 days. Her recovery took 2 years.

1989 : replacement of the right breast

May 1992 : Her general physician prescribes Lexotan and Prozac

Sept. 1992 : Car accident. Hospitalised for 5 days. D/ whiplash.

    Clinical examination and observation

She is a woman who gives you the impression of being fragile. She is
skinny (especially in the neck) and fragile. She always puts on make up
and dresses elegantly. She likes being complimented. She is a real fatal
    woman.

    First prescription : Arnica 200K

After a consultation on the telephone, she takes Arnica XMK for the 2nd
    time with a good result

    Second consultation on 30/10/92

She still dreams a lot, especially about events in the long-ago.
Nevertheless, she dreams less than immediately after the accident. Her
sleep is not yet completely normalised.

    R/ Sulfur 200K.

    Third consultation on 16/11/92

    R/ Nux vomica 200K

    REP : Suspicious; Vertigo lying down, act of lying down;
    Sleeplessness

    Fourth consultation on 01/12/92

    R/ Sepia 200K

REP : Aversion husband; dancing amel; industrious; ‘type’

    After this consultation
she doesn’t visit me for two years.

    Fifth consultation on 13/02/95

    She consults me again.

    Motives for the consultation :

    • She feels very depressed. Her relationship with her friend
Philippe doesn’t work anymore. On the one hand she is obsessed
with him, on the other hand she wants him to leave her alone.

For two years she has taken Temesta. After her appendicectomy she
has stopped taking it from one day to the next because a nurse told
her before the operation that Temesta was bad. Sleeping problems
    since the accident in 1992.

    Spontaneous anamnesis

This time she tells me she has already known Philippe since 1986, so
while she was married. This relationship was always secret. She met
Philippe at a bourse. Philippe has a car business and earns good money.
He is divorced and has a boy (1976). His father is very rich.

She didn’t want an abortion but she thinks this decision has saved
their relationship. She doesn’t trust anybody. She is jealous. She
says she drinks at least half a litre of red wine every night. And when
she feels depressed she drinks even more.

    Medical history

    August 1993 : appendicitis

    January 1994 : appendicectomy

November 1994 : abortion when three months pregnant

    R/ Lachesis 200K

REP: Jealousy; loquacity; suspicious. Lachesis is the lady who
    “suffers by comparison”.

    Sixth consultation on 22/02/1995

    R/ Lachesis XMK

    Seventh consultation on 22/03/1995

    Spontaneous anamnesis

She thinks it would be better to end her relationship with Philippe.
Finally she doesn’t because she feels sorry for him. Philippe’s job
doesn’t work and he has financial problems. There are debts of a few
million francs. She now works for Philippe. More and more she realises
what kind of man he is. She realises that she was even better off with
her husband. Her husband is also very rich.

If she had known all of this before, she wouldn’t have left her
husband. But she needs the protection of a man.

    Observation

She drives a convertible. She loves cars and wealth.

    R/………..200K.

    Eighth consultation on 28/03/95

She has broken with Philippe. She doesn’t want to work with him
anymore. She starts working with her uncle. She sleeps well.

She feels much better in general.

    R/ ……….XMK.

    Ninth consultation on 05/04/95

She feels very good. No more headaches. The relationship with
Philippe is definitively terminated. She feels completely different and
    is much stronger than before.

Now she affirms that nice cars, money, well dressed gentlemen, …
are very important to her. She herself likes nice outfits, dresses with
taste and always wears make-up. Her hair is always perfectly dressed.

    I don’t see her
    anymore for 3,5 years

    Consultation on 18/10/98

    Motives for the consultation

At the moment she feels depressed. She sells furniture now. She has
lived with a new boyfriend (Fred °1954) for 2 years but now she lives
alone since one year and a half. Fred was not at all interested in
Véronique. He didn’t want to occupy himself with her. They still see
each other frequently. She runs from one nasty situation into another.

    Observation

As soon as she has ended her relationship with Philippe she started
to live together with her new boyfriend.

This friend (Fred) is a rentier.

    Medical history

May 1998 : benignant tumour in her right breast

    R/……….200K

    Consultation on 25/11/1998

She works in a furniture shop now. Her employer has recruited her
without his wife knowing about it. At the beginning the relationship
between the two women is very difficult. She proves to be a good
    saleswoman and the relationship improves.

She adapts to a new style of dressing because she certainly doesn’t
    want to provoke.

    R/ ………200K

    Consultation on 06/01/1999

Everything goes well. Fred invites her and Véronique to the
    Dominican Republic.

    R/………..200K

    Consultation on 08/03/1999

The holidays were fine and she is going to live with her boyfriend
    Fred again!!!!

    R/……….200K

    Consultation on 13/09/1999

Very big haemorrhage due to a cupboard that fell against the upper
    part of her right leg.

This has happened 5 days ago.

    REP : Nothing the matter.

    R/ Arnica 200K

After this consultation R/ Sulfuricum acidum was prescribed
four times for this problem until the 27th of December 1999.

    Consultation on 27/12/1999

There is an aesthetic problem because on the place of the encysted
haemorrhage (diagnose confirmed by an echography) hair is starting to
grow. The dermatologist diagnoses : post-traumatic hypertrichoses due to
a heavy fall on the upper leg with massive haemorrhage.

During the consultation of 27/12/99 she tells me again about her
    relationship with Fred.

They haven’t made love since June 1999. They don’t even touch
anymore. The lack of sexual contact makes her crazy. He buys a lot of
presents, also for Véronique. She wants a relationship like her parents
have one, a relationship in which she feels protected. She doesn’t
    want to fail anymore.

He doesn’t even want to caress her. She starts to think it’s
because she now has a pit on the place of the haemorrhage or because she
is ugly and too thick. She lacks confidence. She says she has
    underestimated the divorce.

Philippe claims 600.000 BEF from her.

    R/ ………200K

    Consultation on 24/05/00

Now she tells me that she has a secret relationship with her boss
Ward (°1953) since November 1999. During an anniversary party of his
wife something special happened between them. Now she’s madly in love.
    She wants to wait.

Her friend Fred now acts like a child. He even looks like a zombie.

She cannot support at all that kind of attitude. The wife of her
employer (°1950) is really terrible and Monique finds her stupid.
Monique is convinced she has had something against her right from the
start. This woman has always said that something was going to grow
between her husband Ward and her. Monique handed in her resignation but
her boss refused it. The business is very flourishing and if it would be
sold, her boss would get half of the money!!!!

    Consutation on 14/06/00

The wife of her employer wants her to find work elsewhere because the
situation gets worse (gets complicated) but her boss told her he wants
to keep on seeing her. They start looking for another way of meeting.
Fred also finds all of this terrible. Suddenly with him, everything is
possible. He plays tennis with Véronique and even teaches her how to
drive. She easily finds other work and works every weekend. Initially
she doesn’t know the difference between oak an beech. Now she designs
rooms herself and she loves it. That she works on Sundays is due to the
fact that she has to ,because she has bought an apartment. A salary of
38.000 BEF was not sufficient anymore.

    Medical history

May 2000 : aesthetical operation of the left breast. The left breast
    is replaced.

    R/ …………..200K

On the 9th of March 2001 I call her to ask how she
is and I ask her if I can make a small report about her on video. I see
her the next day. This is what she told me :

Since October 2000, Fred lives elsewhere on her own request (but they
stay friends). On Christmas Eve 2000 they are in Freds’ studio and he
puts Rhohypnol in her wine. Everybody is furious with him and her
parents and her brother forbid her to meet him again.

At the end of November Ward discharges her because the situation has
become unbearable with his wife. For Monique, Ward is the man of her
life. In august, he wants to go on a journey with her.

The butcher of the village where Wards’ furniture shop is situated
finds her a temptress and thinks this gives him the permission to look
at her in a way she doesn’t like (‘the way in which he allowed
himself to look at my legs when I entered his shop’)

She wants her relationship with Ward to be a success, she doesn’t
want it to take a bad turn. She fears she will not be able to make a
    counterpoise.

While leaving, she says she was born ugly, that her father called her
“the ugly duck” and that she was a bastard because she was
“too ugly on the moment of her birth”.

She measured 56 cms and had a long and small face. Her sisters were
beauties compared to her which brought her a lot of pain in her
childhood. Her sisters accentuated her feeling of inferiority. According
to her this is the reason why she is not convinced of being beautiful.
She tells me that if I would want to film her again, she would be
    prepared to do it.

    Consultation on 28/03/01 (registered literally
    from Whinchip)

    Complaint

    Stomach-ache

Her whole body shivers and she can’t keep her hands still.

    Neck pain.

    Aetiology

Stress at work. A lot of gossiping at her work, not especially
concentrated on her but on everyone.

For example about a secretary about which they say she can’t stand
    Monique.

To her this is very confronting. Once more she acts stronger than she
really is. She feels it is stuck and that her stomach is really bad. She
is very nervous and very worried about that.

Her friend told her he would stay over to sleep on Sundays but up
till now he hadn’t. “He was going to work on it”

She wants him to stay with her but after he has slept with her he
gets dressed and goes back to his wife.

She told him it looked as if he had no problem with sleeping with her
and getting dressed and leaving to his wife.

“Yes” he confirms “I don’t have any problem with
that!” For her, hearing this was really hard.

He brings his laundry to her because his wife doesn’t want to wash
    all of it anymore.

On 21/03/01 she has cried all evening. While telling this, tears come
into her eyes. “You have made me dream again and now you take it
    all away from me!!”

He tells her he adores her and that she gives him energy but for her
    this is unbearable.

Weight: 51 kg. She has lost weight in spite off the fact that she
    eats.

She calls him, his wife comes in his neighbourhood and he says
“Yes goodbye, it will be for Friday then” and puts down the
    receiver.

    Anamnesis: checking previous Consultation

    Positive

The inflammation of the bladder stopped without taking antibiotics.

    Remedy thought

Keeps on working even if she’s not really capable of working.

Father: “Our Monique gets through everything!”

Bachflower remedy because it is totally emotional.

OAK = keeps on going even if everything goes bad. Doesn’t quit,
“nothing’s the matter”, big sense of duty.

In Spa were I presented this case (at the 12th Congress of
the School of Luik, march 2001), a colleague came to tell me she found
Monique not to be a “real femme fatale” but a real worker who
wants to go on and keeps looking for something “higher” in
this case ” the ideal relationship as the one her parents
    have.”

R/ constitutional remedy 200K helped her through her last
    bladder-inflammation.

    Ward drops her.

After this, according to me, she needs her constitutional remedy
again or an ‘acute’ Ignatia/ Staphysagria.

R/ Oak Bachflowerremedy for people who don’t stop in spite off
    their weakness

Her daughter has forced her to come to me and accompanied her on the
consultation. Extreme sense of duty, always goes on.

    Consultation on 18/04/01(registered literally
    from Whinchip)

    Complaint

She has had a severe cold and can’t get rid of her cough. Itching
in her throat and always coughing with phlegms which she can’t get up.
It is above all rattling, especially with cold air.

    Anamnesis : checking Previous Consultation

    Positive :

Unbelievable reaction to the drops and she could calm down
    immediately!

    She looks much better again.

She has turned the knob with regard to her friend and she has told
him he should be careful with the things he promises her and can’t
    realize.

She doesn’t ask anything anymore and sees him regularly. The ‘panic-situation”
    of last time has disappeared.

    Spontaneous anamnesis

She has never finished and is busy doing a thousand and one things
and a cousin is here at the moment. On her day off she has to clean, do
the laundry and go out shopping and she ‘s always busy! Veronique
hardly ever sees her mother and she watches TV while she is ironing.

Apart form that she has to spare some time for her parents and her
brother comes for dinner once a week before going to the
    fitness-session.

Fred still calls her once a week and according to him everything will
    end up all right.

Apart from that ‘he leaves her at peace’.

    Aetiology

Has been through a lot of emotions and has weakened and because of
that she is also sensitive to colds.

Her sister says she deceives herself but she wants to amuse herself
now, on this same moment. When they are together, they have a lot of
fun. Ward is afraid of arguing with his wife and the business is in
    between.

  • ETIOLOGY

She says she was born ugly.

Her father always told her so and said that she was a fighter.

From the moment they were born, her sisters were princesses, beauties
in comparison to her and this brought her a lot of pain in her
childhood. Her sisters accentuated her feeling of inferiority.

This is the reason why she is not convinced of her beauty. (Calcarea
    fluoratum/silicata)

    CALCAREA SILICO-FLUORATA = LAPIS ALBUS

    “WHITE STONE”

Found in the sources of Gastein in Austria. There are 18 sources of
    radioactive mineral water there.

Van Grauvogl associated the endemic goitre and cretinism with the
water of the sources being drunk by the inhabitants of the region.

Lapis albus is a very light and soft kind of rock, which contains the
rock Lapis Lazuli in nature. Lapis albus acts as a protector of this
    precious rock.

    Physiology of three elements

The role of Calcium in the mineralisation is evidently
preponderating concerning the bony tissue, also in growth problems and
particularly in rickets we often see Calcarea carbonica called by the
sum of symptoms of the sick person.

    Silicea

plays a role of support in all the connective tissues.
Silicea gives the quality of resistant elasticity to the connective
tissues and to the bony tissue. Silicea plays a decisive role in the
mineral exchanges, in the mineralisation, and consequently, in the
    growth.

This is why it is suitable for all states of demineralisation :
rickets, pretuberculosis and even tuberculosis, subjects without
vitality and consequently hypersensitive to exterior influences, react
too strong or too weak because of an absence of regulation an
    adaptability.

The chronic suppuratings being all demineralised, will be all the
more reason for the indication of Silicea in all the supperative
    processes.

The main quality of Fluor is that it decomposes the silicum
and all the bodies that are derived from it or that contain some. Fluor
is called when a toxin attacks tissues containing silicum : connective
tissues, elastic tissues, supporting tissues and bony tissues.

This way we can see why, in therapeutic homeopathy, it is similar and
complementary to Silicea. The Fluor in the organism can be found in
small quantities in the hardest tissues : bone, teeth and in all the
tissues that, by their elasticity, have acquired a particular resistance
: the epidermis and the vascular tissue.

    Important symptoms

    • Elastical consistency of the lymph glands, of the thyroid gland,
the mammary gland or the uterus

    Clinical indications :

    • chronic inflammation of glands (in general cervical or mesenteric)
especially with persons living in moist valleys or with children
that are fat and bulimic but anaemic
    • chronic suppurating of the middle ear when Silicea seems to be
      indicated, doesn’t work. (similar)

    Vannier :

    • Persisting pain in a scar
    • Genital itch
    • Increased appetite, as hungry as a hunter (Iod.)

    Dewey :

    • Dysmenorrhea even more painful than with Lach

The leading indications are : burning, shooting, stinging
pains : in cardia ; in pylorus ; in breasts and uterus.

RAMAKRISHNAN says that Lapis albus is the medicine “specific
organ” for cancer of the cardia.

I treat for 4 to 6 weeks by giving the organic medicine (for
example Lapis albus is the “laesional” remedy for a tumour
of the cardia) and the nosode (Scirhinum for hard tumors and
Carcinosinum for softer tumours) alternating every week. Carcinosinum
can be specified also (for example in case of a tumour of the cardia
    Carcinosinum adeno stoma is used)

If the situation improves, after 4 to 6 weeks one can continue with
the constitutional remedy instead of the laesionel remedy.

    Central essence of Lapis albus:

The three components of Lapis Albus lack
confidence in themselves and have little self esteem. All three they
are very sensitive to critics. Fluoricum compensates this
emotion by “glamour”. “Glamour” is the façade.
His/her social position and his/her money are used as a compensation
    for his/her lack of confidence.

The cretinism (stopped growth) of Lapis Albus
is an expression of the most profound believe of the three elements
that they are not good enough to be of any signification at all. Not
feeling well means being in shortage of something. Cretinism is caused
by insufficiency of the thyroid gland.

    Calcarea Silicata

depends both financially and socially on
people (especially family) and the fear of having an incurable disease
makes him/her believe being a failure.

This complete dependence makes him/her indulgent and soft/tender.

The component Fluricum acidium causes the person to want to
    escape from the situation.

He only wants to escape immorality. He laughs at it and doesn’t
    want to have the responsibility.

    SUMMARY OR THE ESSENCE

There is a conflict between total dependence and being linked by
the job (financially and socially) and the desire to escape from this
obligation that he/she considers to be incompatible, by an immoral
behaviour and characterised by the indifference for the well-loved.

We can speak about an “elastical squabble” in two
    (three?) directions.

    Lapis albus

    Description

    Silico-fluoride of calcium.

    – Calcarea silico-fluorata.

    – (A species of gneiss found by Grauvogl in the mineral springs of
Gastein, and named by him Lapis albus, “White Stone.”

    – These waters flow over gneiss formations into the valley of the
Achen, where goŒtre and cretinism abound.)

    – Trituration.

    Characteristics

    – Grauvogl, who introduced this remedy, cured with it a case of
carcinoma; and he and others have cured cases of goŒtre and scrofulous
    glands.

    – The leading indications are : Burning, shooting, stinging pains :
in cardia; in pylorus; in breasts and uterus.

    – It has shown great power over new growths of many kinds.

    – In two cases of cervical glands cured by L. alb. 6, Dewey relates
that a ravenous appetite developed while the remedy was being taken.

In two cases cured by Dewey the swelling of the glands was elastic
    rather than of stony hardness.

    – In one of the patients the swelling was as large as a goose-egg in
    the right sterno-clavicular region.

    – This patient, a young lady, was a blonde; as also was a lady of
thirty-five whom he cured of goître with the remedy.

    – Whiting (Med. Adv., xxvi. 41) records a fragmentary proving of Lap.
    a..

    – Mrs. X., 40, fair, stout, no children, had a large bronchocele.

    – Averse to all animal food.

    – Craves sweets.

    – Has craved and drunk much ice-water in all seasons since a child.

    – Feet and legs cold to knees.

    – Lap. a. 6x 2gr. powders, one four times a day.

    – Reported in a month that the tumour was rapidly diminishing in
size, but she was having much pain it.

    – No further medicine was given.

    – Two months later the tumour had diminished one-half, and the
patient then stated that since taking the powders she had had no pain at
her menstrual period, no dyspepsia, and no sick-headaches.

    – (She had had severe dysmenorrhoea since the menses first appeared.)

    – Since leaving off the medicine the pain in the tumour ceased and
    also the decrease in size.

    – Lap. a. 6x was again given, and again the pain in the tumour came
on; and, in addition, itching of the external genitals.

    – The 30th and 200th caused such intense pruritis that the patient
refused to take any more medicine of any kind.

    – Since then Whiting has cured many cases of pruritus and also of
    dysmenorrhoea with Lap. a..

    – The pains come on before the flow and cause swooning.

    – One patient, 19, had had dysmenorrhoea from the first.

    – Pain so severe she would fall unconscious wherever she might happen
to be, the swoon lasting half an hour at times.

    – >> When flow established.

    – Lap. a. 200 cured.

Miss X., 34, normal till she had measles aet. 20; since then pain at
commencement of menstruation, so severe as to cause fainting.

    – “This severe pain would continue less for a day, or until the
    flow was established.”

    – Lap. a. 200 cured in six months.

    – W. P. Wesselhoeft, discussing Whiting’s paper, narrated the cure of
a case of epithelioma of the lip in a man of seventy with Lap. a. 12x in
    water.

    – Dr. Gregory cured a young man of a tumour of the lip with Lap. a.
    30.

    – It recurred two years later with “burning, stinging pain,
which made him jump off his feet.

    – More Lap. a. 30 was given, and cured in a year.

    – There was no further recurrence.
