Some Comments on Health and
the Political Economy of MedicineIt’s remarkable how few socially and politically
conscious people are aware of their own healthy well-being and of the
alternatives that are available to our profit-driven dominant capitalist
medicine.Despite an awareness of what’s going on in the world
and how it really works, most of us have neglected to really understand
our own health and have, instead, accepted the dictates of the
“church” of capitalist medicine that is fostered by the AMA
and FDA www.geocities.com/HotSprings/7776/STRIKE-2.HTM.
These organizations are functionally little more than extensions of the
transnational medical-industrial complex, one of the most powerful
industries in today’s “globalized” world. The bottom line with
these institutions — always the most fundamental concern — is that if
there is no profit in a medical practice or product it is not pursued.
And if there is a profit to be made, it must be increased, by whatever
means one can get away with. This is “health care” for profit.
This basis of “conventional” (ie.capitalist) medicine is, by
definition, unconscionable: it has only to do with accounting. It
is a poison in the heart of medicine that has far-reaching consequences.The profit motive in medicine fundamentally distorts
all health care, determining everything from the kind of research that
is done to the recommended treatments to the amount of time spent with a
patient. It is fundamentally at odds with the classically expressed
concerns of the Hippocratic Oath, the concern to bring maximum health
with the least suffering to every patient. You can find a number of

today’s “health care” business.There is an essentially progressive and
non-capitalist alternative form of medicine that can yield effective and
deep healing. It is the brilliant and healthy science of Homeopathy. The
science and practice of true Classical Homeopathy treats each person as
a complex and many-faceted individual and takes their case as such,
unlike the production-line approach of conventional medicine and most of
the “new-age” treatments. Homeopathy does not treat people as
diseases, or disease as separate from the whole person. And there is
little room for the profit motive to run the show because homeopathic
remedies cost pennies per dose. Furthermore, the correct practice of
true classical homeopathy requires a lot of time interviewing each
patient to discover them in their every aspect, much more time than can
be profitably spent if profit is the basic concern. This is one reason
why it can be very difficult to find a true classical homeopath: it’s
very hard to make a living from it. It is fundamentally “out of
sync” with today’s profit-making social basis.I am offering the information on this page for those
who are struggling against the system’s most egregious outrages and for
those who are fighting to found a more humane and just foundation for
society. You should be aware of, and have access to,
alternatives to the bosses’ medical machine.The profit system definitely knows how to defend
itself, and it frequently results in physical and mental injuries to
those who dare to defy it. The pages in this section of my site,
hopefully, will be useful in finding effective, cheap, and healthy
alternatives to frequently harmful, dangerous, expensive, or unavailable
forms of medicine that the capitalist system has served up.Be
