Mind and Disposition.
Melancholy with inclination to grief, anxiety about the future, and
nightly restlessness driving one out of bed.
Despairing grief with shedding of tears.
Anxious fear of an approaching misfortune.
Irresoluteness and excessive cautiousness.
[5] Easily vexed and wrathful.
Want of disposition to work.
Forgetfulness, chooses wrong words in speaking or writing.
Head.
Feeling of intoxication, in the morning on rising, the forehead is
contracted, with nausea and vomiting.
Headache every morning on waking, semilateral, with inclination to
vomit.
[10] Pain in the head as if the head
were numb and pithy.
Burning on the top of the head on a small spot.
Fulness in and congestions to the head, the menstruation being
suppressed.
Humid, spreading, scurfy eruption on the top of the head, painful to the
touch, as if from subcutaneous ulceration, and emitting a disgusting
odor ; extending down the sides of the head into the
whiskers ; after scratching, more sore and humid ; later
drying up to a white scurf.
Smooth large wens on the hairy scalp ; the hairy scalp is very hot
and itches very much, especially when walking in the open air.
[15] The hair becomes gray early and
falls out from the top and sides ; of the head and the whiskers.
Rheumatic pains in the scalp, principally in the sides, extending to the
teeth and the cervical glands ; worse when walking and becoming
cold in the open air, relieved from warmth and while getting warm when
walking.
Perspiration smelling acid or very offensive, coloring the linen
yellow ; on the head (as on the whole body) at night and during the
day, from the least exercise ; increased even while talking, better
when walking in the open air.
Eyes.
Pressure and stinging in the eyes, with lachrymation.
Inflammation of the eyes with photophobia, and red, swollen eyelids.
[20] Intolerance to the light (of day).
Short-sightedness.
Sensation of dryness of the eyelids.
Agglutination of the eyes early in the morning.
Dry gum in the eyelashes.
Ears.
[25] Dryness of the inner ear.
Sensation as if the (left) ear were filled with water.
Moisture and sore places behind the ears.
Hardness of hearing.
Cracking in the ears when moving the jaw.
Nose.
[30] Painful dryness of the nose.
Bleeding at the nose.
Black sweaty pores on the nose.
Dry scurfs in the nose.
Frequent discharge of thick, yellowish, fetid mucus from the nose.
Coryza as soon as ; he becomes cold.
[35] Smell too sensitive (cannot bear
the smell of flowers).
Face.
Pale-yellow color of the face.
Flushes of heat in the face.
Swelling and erysipelatous inflammation of the face, burning and
stinging ; the erysipelas is spreading in rays.
Semilateral (left) distortion and paralysis of the face which impedes
the speech.
[40] Continued feeling as of cobweb on
the face.
Eruption on the face, as if the skin were raw.
Ulcers on the surface of the lips.
Ulcerated corner of the mouth.
Scabby eruptions on the chin and around the mouth.
[45] Swelling and induration of the
submaxillary glands.
Mouth and Throat.
Lancinating pain in the teeth from cold drinking, and aggravated by
warmth.
Swelling of the gums.
The gums bleed readily when rubbing them.
Fetid odor from the gums and mouth.
[50] Sensation in the throat (at night)
as if a plug had lodged in it.
Constant spasm in the throat, obliging him to swallow as if he were
choking.
Swelling of the tonsils, with pain when swallowing.
Accumulation of a great deal of mucus in the throat.
Bitter taste in the mouth, the tongue being much coated.
[55] Taste of rotten eggs in the
morning, after rising.
Stomach and Abdomen.
Canine hunger (with acidity of the stomach).
Frequent sour eructations, with bitter taste in the mouth.
Morning nausea.
Nausea and vomiting after each meal ; sour vomiting.
[60] Repugnance to salt food.
Violent thirst, early in the morning.
The abdomen becomes inflated after eating.
Burning in the stomach, causing hunger.
Fulness and heaviness in the abdomen.
[65] Distended abdomen with diarrhœa.
Hardness of the abdomen.
Painfulness of the groins, and swelling of the inguinal glands.
Colic and pressure in the stomach with nausea ; relieved by heat.
Inflation of the abdomen, owing to an accumulation and incarceration of
flatulence.
[70] Inflation of the abdomen, with
congestion of blood to the head, heaviness in the head and vertigo.
Excessive discharge of fetid flatulence.
Rumbling in the abdomen.
Croaking, as of frogs in the abdomen.
Pinching in the abdomen, previous to every emission of flatulence.
Stool and Anus.
[75] Constipation ; the stool
hard, knotty, the lumps being united by mucous threads ; hard, of
too large a size.
A quantity of white mucus is expelled with the stool.
Mucous diarrhœa.
Sour-smelling stool with burning at the rectum.
Continuous soft stools ; of too small a size.
[80] With the stool discharge of a
little blood ; of tape-worm.
Itching and sore feeling of the anus.
Varices of the rectum, and between them burning rhagades at the anus.
Prolapsus ; recti with the varices, as if the rectum were
paralyzed.
Urinary Organs.
Anxious, painful desire to urinate, with discharge of small
quantities ; of brown urine in drops, with a stitch in the urethra,
when emitting it.
[85] The urine smells sour.
The urine becomes very turbid, with a reddish sediment.
During micturition pain in the os sacrum.
Wetting the bed at night.
Nightly desire to urinate -frequent micturition.
Genital Organs.
Men. Tension and lascivious feeling in
the genitals ; voluptuous irritation of the genital organs.
[90] Immoderate sexual desire ;
violent erections.
Eruptions on the penis.
Dropsical swelling of the prepuce and the scrotum.
During an embrace painful cramps in the calves ; no emission of
semen.
After an embrace coldness of the legs, exhaustion, heat of the body and
perspiration.
[95] Women.
Soreness of the vagina.
Painful swelling of the (left) ovary.
Menses too late, too scanty and too pale.
The first menses delay.
Suppression of the menses, with heaviness of the limbs and congestions
of blood to the head.
[100] Before and during the
menstruation, fatiguing cough (morning and during the day).
During the menses, colic ; violent headache with nausea ;
morning sickness ; soreness between the legs ; swelling of the
feet ; chilliness ; pain in the varices.
Profuse white, thin, leucorrhœa, with weakness in the back.
Respiratory Organs and Chest.
Sensitiveness of the larynx ; scraping in it and roughness,
hoarseness.
Cough, caused by taking a deep inspiration in the evening and at night.
[105] Voice (when singing) cracked.
Stitches in the chest and palpitation of the heart from the least
exercise.
Oppression of the chest -Asthma in the evening in bed.
Perspiration on the sternum every morning.
Swelling and induration of the mammary glands.
[110] Soreness of the nipples with
small corrosive blisters.
Back and Neck.
Sensation as if the small of the back were broken or bruised.
Formication in the back.
Contractive pain between the shoulders.
Painful stiffness of the neck, when bending the head and raising the
arms.
Extremities.
[115] Upper.
Emaciation of the hands.
Distortion of the fingers.
Gouty nodosities on the finger-joints.
Soreness between the fingers.
The nails are thick and crippled.
[120] Lower.
Soreness between the thighs.
Numbness and stiffness of the thighs (and toes).
Stiffness and contraction of the muscles in the bend of knee.
Stiffness of the knee.
Stiffness and contraction of the toes.
[125] Coldness of the feet (in the
evening, in bed).
Stinging pains in the heels.
Between the toes soreness, with violent itching.
On the toes, spreading blisters, ulcers.
Ulceration on the borders of the big toe.
[130] Sore pains of the corns.
The nails are thick and crippled.
Sleep.
Unable to fall asleep before midnight on account of a fixed idea.
Perspiration about the head, when falling asleep.
Bleeding from the nose at night.
[135] Wakens at night with a
suffocative attack.
During sleep frightful, vexatious dreams.
Constant talking during sleep.
Bleeding from the nose at night.
Wetting the bed at night while asleep.
Generalities.
[140] Great emaciation.
The limbs go to sleep.
Drawing through the whole body, with inclination to stretch.
Contractions of the muscles.
Pulsation through the whole body whenever he moves.
[145] Sensation of debility, without
pain, compelling one to groan.
Fever.
Pulse full and hard, but not accelerated.
Chill and chilliness, principally in the evening, after 4 P.M.
General dry heat, evening and night, preceded by a chill.
Heat when riding in a carriage.
[150] Perspiration from the least
exercise.
Perspiration sour, coloring the linen yellow, of offensive smell.
Night-sweat, offensive smelling.
Inability to perspire.
Quotidian fever ; shaking chill in the evening ; an hour
afterwards heat in the face and cold feet, without any subsequent
perspiration.
Skin.
[155] Swelling and induration of the
glands.
Dryness of the skin and want of perspiration.
Erysipelatous inflammation.
Humid tetters and eruptions.
Soreness and rawness of the skin (in the bends of the limbs, groins,
neck, behind the ears), especially in children.
[160] Unhealthy skin ; every
little injury causes suppuration.
Ulcers, with fetid pus ; proud flesh ; itching, stinging.
Burning pain in an old cicatrix.
Itching of the varices on the lower limbs.
Twitching-stinging on the surface of a mole.
Conditions.
[165] Liability to take cold ; has
to avoid a draught of air.
Dread of the open air (in the morning), sensitiveness to a draught of
air.
Aggravation, at night ; from
becoming cold ; during and after menstruation ; from
suppressed menstruation.
Amelioration from eructations.
