Kala-azar.
(TROPICAL SPLENOMEGALY OR DUM-DUM-FEVER).
This is a very fatal disease caused by the Leishman-Donovan
protozoalbody.
To this Antimony is the
antidote.
It is injected intra-venously in the form Stibacetin
beginning with 0.1 grm. and working up generally to 0.8 grm.
Or a colloidal preparation of Oxide of
Antimony may be injected intra-muscularly (1-50th of a grain
in 15 drops of Glycerine and 15
drops of distilled water).
The same remedy may be given by the mouth in homśopathic form.
Dr. Neatby says Arsen. alb. is
especially useful in infantile kala-azar.[top]

CONGESTION.
In early stage, with feverish symptoms, flushed face, Bell. 3, 1h.
Suppression of urine, bloody urine, after scarlatina, Tereb. 3, 1h.
BRIGHT’S DISEASE.
Incipient, with dropsy, Apis 3x,
1h.
Inflammation of the kidneys with suppression of urine, as after
scarlatina, Canth. 3, 1h.
Tubular nephritis, (especially after scarlatina), albuminuria,
tube-casts, dropsy, thirst for cold water, anxiety, desire for warmth, Ars. 3, 2h.
Nephritis of pregnancy ; suppurative nephritis, Merc. c. 3, 2h.
Chronic Bright’s Disease : Prostration,
restlessness, anxiety, thirst, cool skin, internal heat, dropsy, Ars. 3, 4h.
Pale bloated appearance, chilly, vomiting of food or passing it
undigested, fullness of the head, nose-bleeding, irritable patients, Ferr. met. 6, 8h.
Fever, headache, irritation of the bladder and frequent desire to
pass water, Ferr. Phos. 3, gr. v.
8h.
Granular degeneration, gouty kidney, pale, bloated, heavy
expression, melancholy disposition, costiveness, Plumb. 6, 4h.
