THROAT.

Objective. ► Swelling of
the throat, with stitches in it, while eating; the swelling is also felt
externally about the angle of the jaw, [1].
► Hawking of blood, with a sweet
taste in the mouth, [3]. ► Hawking, always on deep breathing, [1]. ►
During the day, frequent hawking up of blackish-gray masses of mucus,
like what happens when one stays long in a warm room where a lamp is
burning (first day), [41a]. ► Much phlegm in the throat and larynx, in
the morning, on awaking (fourteenth day), [45].
► Hawking up of thick phlegm several
times, at night (seventh day), [45a].
► Repeated hawking of thick

throat, as if the tonsils were swollen, with stitches extending into the

► After dinner pain in the throat,

Constriction in the throat, as from astringents, with small stitches,

sticking in the throat, it takes away his breath, and he is obliged to
cough it up, [1]. ► Fermentation in the upper part of the

Feeling in the throat as from a fatty exhalation from the stomach, [1]. ►
Rancidity, like heartburn, in the throat on swallowing, especially if
therewith she presses upon the trachea, [3].
► Disgust and retching in the throat
lasting some hours (soon, eighteenth day), [22]. ► Uvula and
Tonsils. ► Elongation of
the uvula; (the uvula is fallen down), [1].
► Redness and swelling of the
tonsils, [1]. ► From 6 to 8 P.M., shooting pains in the
left tonsil, which, on swallowing, extended into the left ear (fifteenth
day), [28c]. ► Fauces. ►
Swelling of the fauces, with difficult deglutition, [64]. ► *Feeling
of roughness in the fauces and uvula (third, fourth, and
fifth days); worse, especially on swallowing (sixth day); very rough
throat (thirteenth day); roughness increased (fourteenth and

Feeling of roughness in the fauces, in the morning after awaking (one
hundred and fourth day), [43b]. ► Immediately, slight scraping in the
fauces, making him hawk; this lasted about an hour (first, second, and

► Pharynx and Œsophagus. ► A collection of mucus in the pharynx, of
a salt taste, making it necessary for him to expectorate frequently

the neck, at intervals, felt through the night till towards morning,
even while breathing, [1]. ► Dryness of the pharynx, [1]. ► After
eating, it seems as if the upper part of the pharynx were closed, [1]. ►
*Spasmodic contractive sensation in the middle of the pharynx, food will
not go down, [1]. ► Constriction of the pharynx, with a
feeling as if she could not swallow food or anything else, which,
however, she can (after a few hours), [1].
► While eating a sensation as if
something pressive remained sticking in the pharynx, again disappearing,

► *Burning in the pharynx, with sour
eructations, [3]. ► Burning in the pharynx, in the evening,
with heat on the tongue, [1]. ► Waking at 3 A.M., with aching in the
œsophagus, great flow of saliva in the mouth, and clammy taste (as from
indigestion), although he had only taken a light supper, with appetite
(twenty-sixth day); in the morning the gastric symptoms were gone
(twenty-seventh day), [28c]. ► During all the day, tickling in the
posterior wall of the pharynx, causing a troublesome hacking (second
day), [18]. ►
Roughness in the œsophagus (forty-fifth day), [45a]. ►
Swallowing. ► *Swallowing was
painful, the tonsils somewhat reddened; this lasted two days
(tenth day), [22]. ► *Painful swallowing (tenth day), [34a]. ►
Difficulty of swallowing (second day), [26].
► External Throat. ► Painful tension and commencing swelling
of the submaxillary gland (seventeenth day); swelling increased somewhat
in size, and feels moderately hard and tense (twenty-fourth day);
swelling decreased (twenty-seventh and twenty-ninth days); gone
(thirty-fourth day), [29]. ► The right submaxillary gland was again
swollen and sensitive to touch, and thus it remained for two days
