MIND.

EYE.

► Sharp pain in eyeball from before
backward, worse on turning or moving the eyes, [1]. ►

► People and things looked ghastly
and pale, or saffron-colored, followed by headache, fever, and sore
throat, [1]. ►
In the evening, a peculiar dry mist passed over the eyes; after looking
at an object for a little time could see it more distinctly, while other
objects remained indistinct, [4]. ► Sleepy irritation in the eyes, in the
evening, [7]. ► All day, a sense of irritation in the
left eye, as when the eyes are heavy with sleep, coming and going, not
affected by daylight, worse from artificial light, and from closing the
eye, with a desire to close it, [7].
► In the evening, the right eye began
to be affected in the same way as the left, [7]. ► After
using the microscope, considerable irritation in the eyes; feeling as of

FACE.

THROAT.

wide, thicker at the upper part, extends up and down as far as can be
seen; the mucus is very though, can be moved but not removed by the

Destructive ulceration of the uvula, soft palate, and tonsils, with

RESPIRATORY ORGANS.

Habitual expectoration from the bronchia in the morning is freer, and a

When lying down, frequent desire to take a deep breath; worse when lying
on left side, so that could not sleep on that side, [9]. ► Craving

increases it; breathing gently and regularly relieves it, [9].
CHEST.

Dull pain in left pectoral region disappeared, [°], [12].
► Severe pain behind the lower right

pains through upper part of chest, [1].
NECK AND BACK.

Continuous pressing pain for some minutes in upper scapular region;
after sitting still for some time, considerable stiffness, and sharp
pressing pain across the shoulders on beginning to move, [7]. ► Drawing
through side of head and neck to clavicle, first on the right side, next
day on the left, [12]. ► After sitting awhile, much stiffness
under lower angles of both scapulæ on moving the body, [7]. ►
Rheumatic drawing sensation across the shoulders up to the head,
afterwards more in left side; worse from any jerking motion in riding or
in turning over in bed, from extreme flexure or rotation of the head,

shoulder, as if firmly grasped, while sitting, relieved by motion of the

The legs from the knees downward, including the whole foot, feel quite

of the thighs and knees, after a short walk, [14].
GENERAL SYMPTOMS.

Felt as though he were twice his natural size, during fever, [1]. ►
Frequent pressing pains here and there all over the body, [7]. ► Less
fatigue and faintness than usual on being obliged to walk at an early

INFERIOR EXTREMITIES.

thighs after a short walk, [13]. ► Felt very weak, especially on walking. ► Indium brought back symptoms in two cases

SLEEP AND DREAMS.

Almost constant inclination to stretch, [1].
► Sleepy and irritable with the
headache, [2]. ► Sleepy in the evening, obliged to retire

► Very sleepy from 4 to 6 P.M., [12]. ►
Drowsiness on sitting in a warm room; cannot keep awake, [6]. ► Great

in succession, the last time with vertigo, worse on turning the head on

occupied his mind during the day, [13].
► Troubled sleep and constant dreams
of annoying accidents, of being in foreign countries, [3]. ► Awoke
quite early not refreshed, [3]. ► Sleep constantly disturbed by dreams of
foreign travel, chased by mad bulls, lost in mountains; when chased made
desperate efforts to run, but could only walk at a slow pace, [3]. ►
On account of difficulty of breathing obliged to lie on the back, which
caused severe nightmare, [9]. ► Great and fruitless efforts to escape
impending danger during sleep, [3].

FEVER.

by cold air. ► Beating, throbbing
headache, at 3 P.M., lasting till bedtime; head very hot; face red. ► A beating, throbbing pain in head, with
much heat, and a stupid, cross feeling; washing in cold water relieved. ► Dull headache in the forenoon. ► Severe left-sided headache, in the
evening. ► Headache in the morning,
on rising, relieved by eating; an hour afterwards, headache returns, and
lasts till noon. [10.] ► Severe itching of scalp on vertex,
lasting several days; worse in the morning. ►
Very distressing headache in forenoon; the pains commenced on right side
of occiput, and extended over the head to left eye. ► Pain in the morning, at 8 A.M., extending

vertex. ► Headache, beginning at
night, and continuing all next day; pain mostly on right side of
occiput; occasional pains over left eye, with a tired, sick feeling. ► Pain in right occipital region, with

EYE.

Profuse watering of eyes when in the open air.
EAR.
►
Bright redness of whole of right ear, with a row of very sore pimples on
helix.
NOSE.
►
Epistaxis. ► Nose bleeds whenever
blown or touched.
FACE.
Very painful, suppurating pimples on
forehead; feel as though pierced with a needle; skin very red, far
around each pustule. [20.] ► Face red and hot. ►
Sore pustules all over. ► Face
burning and stinging continually.
MOUTH AND THROAT.
►
Corners of mouth cracked and very sore. ►
Sore spot in the mouth. ► Patch of
small vesicles on mucous membrane of lower lip. ►
Vesicles contain a colorless, limpid fluid. ►
Tickling in throat inducing continual hawking. ►
Left tonsil swollen; pain and difficulty in swallowing.
CHEST.

Burning pain on left side, near sternum, which feels as if drawn towards
back.
STOMACH.

touch; drawing pain along spermatic cords, from testicles upwards; left
testicle much worse.
TRUNK.

Soreness all over body; severe pain in left aide, making it difficult to
move; better after continued motion. ►
Soreness of whole of left side of body. ►
Body feels sore all over; sickish feeling, and sensation as though he
bones would cut through the flesh.
EXTREMITIES.

Upper. ► Constant pain in
left shoulder, as if bruised. ► Pain
in left shoulder, with soreness, extending down the whole arm. [50.] ►>
Slight pains in left arm. ► Left
elbow feels sore. ► Muscles of left
arm and shoulder feel flabby and soft; no power in the arm. ► Intermitting pains in left shoulder. ► Severe pain under scapula of left aide. ► Severe lancinating pain in biceps of left
arm, extending into shoulder; pains worse when raising the arm;
paralytic weakness. ► For some days,
severe pain in left shoulder; pain runs down to elbow, at times so
severe as to disable the arm; shooting pains in the fingers. ► Hands cold and clammy. ► Palms of hand sweat continually. ► Hands sweat very much at 3 o’clock, every

Sharp, shooting pains in the right leg. ►
Burning and intense itching of all the toes during the whole day. ► Itching of the toes in the evening. ► Feet sweat easily and feel cold. ► Profuse foot-sweat (late symptom, after

Very painful and sore pimples on various parts of the body. ► Itching of scalp, toes, etc.
CONDITIONS.

the symptoms seemed intensifed in the afternoon, about 3 o’clock. ► Left side of the body, right side of the
head most affected. ► Amelioration.
► Headaches are relieved when washing
in cold water, and on walking in the cold air. ►
